A Deeper Dive into My Journey: Who Is Really Behind Casa Guru

Welcome back to Casa Guru! If you’ve already had a chance to read our About Us page, you know a bit about my passion for gifting and the heart behind this cozy haven. Today, I’d like to take you on a deeper dive into my journey and share a glimpse of who I am beyond the brand.

As many of you might see me, I’m an entrepreneurial spirit and a lover of all things creative. From a young age, I was always drawn to the thrill of starting something new. Bake sales were my first taste of entrepreneurship, where I baked delicious treats and learned the joy of sharing them with others. This early curiosity evolved as I sold keychains and my beloved brownies throughout high school, eventually leading to the birth of my brownie brand, C Squared.

After my graduation in 2017 with a degree in business focused on finance and marketing, I stepped into the marketing world, exploring various full-time roles. Each experience enriched my skills and deepened my understanding of the industry. With a desire to elevate my expertise, I pursued a master’s in project management, adding a minor in SEO, SEM, and social media along the way. This combination has been pivotal in shaping my approach to creating meaningful connections through my work.

During my college years, I also began my journey with a food blog that started as @305eating and evolved into @carbs.not.abs. I loved taking pictures of everything and sharing them with others in hopes that they would be helpful. This passion for sharing has been a cornerstone of my creative endeavors.

In 2019, I co-founded For Public Display, a female brand known for its stunning beaded bags. This venture was not just about fashion; it was about empowering women to express themselves through unique, handcrafted accessories. Each bag tells a story, allowing women to showcase their individuality and style. By promoting craftsmanship and sustainability, For Public Display encourages a sense of confidence and pride among its wearers, celebrating the beauty of self-expression.

As the pandemic unfolded, I found myself reflecting on my roots and the vibrant culture of Colombia. I recognized a significant gap in gift recommendations that catered to the unique tastes and preferences of my Colombian community. This realization inspired me to create The Gift Guru, a platform dedicated to curating thoughtful and meaningful gifts that resonate with those cultural nuances. My goal was to help others find joy in the art of gifting, making the process easier and more meaningful, especially for those looking to connect with loved ones across distances.

In June 2024, I made a bold decision to leave my full-time job, having just graduated from my master’s program. It was the perfect time to start working as a freelancer, putting my marketing knowledge into practice while dedicating more time to The Gift Guru and For Public Display. This transition was a significant milestone for me, and soon after, Casa Guru was born—a space where you can find thoughtful recommendations and beautifully curated gifts, all designed to celebrate the joy of giving and connection.
